No change. The purchase of additional furniture for the expansion of the Psychiatric Health Facility is included in the Health and Human Agency's FY 2013/14 Recommended Budget. The Agency's Recommended Budget will be adjusted during the addenda process to add the four (4) tables to the fixed assets schedule as well as transfer existing appropriations from Services & Supplies to Fixed Assets.
Background
Currently the Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) exceeds its ten (10) bed capacity nearly every day resulting in the placement of County residents into more expensive out-of-county facilities. These placements are not only costly, but also limit the County's ability to participate in quality discharge planning as the County is not part of the treatment team.
On December 11, 2012, the Board of Supervisors authorized the Director of the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), or designee, to apply to the California State Department of Social Services (CDSS) to increase the capacity of the PHF from a ten (10) bed facility to a sixteen (16) bed facility.
