Title
Transportation Department recommending the Board adopt a Resolution sanctioning the road closure of Harvard Way between the intersections of Silva Valley Parkway and Clermont Lane in El Dorado Hills on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for the "Every 15 Minutes" Safety Presentation at Oak Ridge High School, subject to the conditions set forth in Resolution No. 110-79 dated May 1, 1979 and the Application for Road Closure.
Resolution 034-2010
Body
Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
There is no fiscal impact and no change to Net County Cost associated with this item.

Background:
The "Every 15 Minutes" Safety Presentation at Oak Ridge High School is organized by the El Dorado Hills Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and Oak Ridge High School.

The program includes a "staged" collision scene that will be set on Harvard Way in front of the High School. Emergency personnel from the fire department, El Dorado County Coroner's Office and CHP (including helicopter medivac) will create and enact a "real life" collision scene.

With Board approval, on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, Harvard Way will be closed for three hours (8:00 AM to 11:00 AM). The road closure will be managed by CHP personnel throughout the entire event. Officers will be on hand at each road closure to direct traffic, prohibit pedestrian traffic and give directions for alternate routes. The traffic management plan will only prohibit vehicles from accessing Oak Ridge High School. The local neighborhood will not be adversely affected.

Reason for Recommendation:
The Department of Transportation is recommending the Board approve the proposed Resolution for the safety and success of this event. No involved agencies objected to this closure.

Action to be taken following Board approval:
1) The Board Clerk will obtain the Chair's signature on the Resolution.
2) The Board Clerk will send an executed copy of the Resolution to the Department of Transportation.
