Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The CHP contacted the Sheriff’s Office in December 2021 and expressed an interest in using the Sheriff’s Office Brian Ishmael Shooting Range and training room facilities for local officer training purposes on mutually agreed upon dates and times.

This request for the Board’s approval and authorization for the Sheriff’s to sign the CHP’s Standard Agreement for contracting with outside agencies is necessary due to the language contained in it that states that the “Contractor agrees to provide the CHP with a resolution, motion, order or ordinance of the governing body, which authorizes execution of the Agreement, and indicates the individual who is authorized to sign the Agreement on behalf of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.”

Providing this resource to another local law enforcement agency strengthens relationships between agencies and provides revenue for offsetting general range maintenance expenditures.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board could choose not to approve this item, however, the revenue generating agreement allows for a strengthened relationship between agencies.
