DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the formation of an Ad-Hoc Committee to review the aquatic recreational needs of the community, the maintenance and operational costs associated with the three Aquatic Centers in the County - City of Placerville, Cameron Park CSD, El Dorado Hills CSD and the role the County plays in providing funding to offset the maintenance and operational costs associated with the centers.  Parks staff met on two separate occassions with representatives from the City of Placerville, Cameron Park CSD and El Dorado Hills CSD to identify the impact of out of districts users, the costs associated with the additional usage, maintenance costs, upgrades to equipment and staffing.  A meeting was held with the public to gather input on their needs and recommendations for the Aquatic Centers.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

No immediate fiscal impact to the Parks Division budget, but the General Fund (amount unknown) could be impacted if the Board of Supervisors approves funding for maintenance of the aquatic centers.
