DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
District Attorney recommending the Board approve Memorandum of Understanding No. 540-M1711 with the El Dorado County Superior Court (Court).

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Superior Court of California, County of El Dorado, was awarded an additional year term for the Recidivism Reduction Fund Court Grant Pretrial Supervision Program. The District Attorney's Office did not receive official notice of award of the requested grant monies in time to amend the previous MOU No. 545-M1510. The previous MOU No. 545-M1510 was approved by the Board of Supervisors on August 11, 2015 and was for a term of April 30, 2015 through April 30, 2017.

The new MOU No. 540-M1711 is for the additional one year grant period of May 1, 2017 through April 30, 2018. Under the MOU, the Superior Court will reimburse the District Attorney for one .21% full-time equivalent Paralegal and one 10.5% full-time equivalent Legal Office Assistant, for the support of the program with notifications and assistance to victims within the District Attorney's office and support to the Deputy District Attorney with intake, filings and case assignments.

The MOU was drafted in May 2017 and submitted to County Counsel for review on June 2, 2017. The MOU was disapproved by County Counsel on June 6, 2017 and returned to the department for revisions.
