DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

This item seeks approval for the Board of Supervisors to sign a formal Proclamation honoring the 50th anniversary of the Sister City relationship between Warabi, Japan and El Dorado County, established through the “People to People International” program. This milestone reflects five decades of cultural exchange, mutual respect, and international friendship fostered through student visits, civic engagement, and community partnerships.

The Proclamation will acknowledge the enduring impact of the Sister City Program in promoting global understanding and goodwill, and recognize the contributions of local volunteers, educators, and government officials who have supported this initiative over the years. Signing this Proclamation will reaffirm El Dorado County’s commitment to international collaboration and celebrate the shared values that unite our communities across borders.
