DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
The Chief Administrative Office is recommending that the Board receive and file the FY 2015-16 Mid-Year report and if necessary provide direction related to the FY 2016-17 budget.
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Annually the Chief Administrative Office brings forward a Mid-Year report which summarizes the County's fiscal position as of December 31. The report includes any material variances in projected revenues and expenses and provides a fund balance estimate for the upcoming Fiscal Year budget preparation. This dialogue is an opportunity for the Board to set policy direction and expectations for the upcoming Fiscal Year budget preparation.
Departments are in the process of developing their FY 2016-17 budget requests. These requests are due to the Chief Administrative Office on April 4, 2016. The CAO Recommended Budget for FY 2016-17 is estimated to be complete by May 25, 2016 with the Budget Special Meetings set to begin on June 6, 2016. These Budget Special Meetings are an opportunity for the Board and the public to ask questions related to the Recommended Budget in preparation for Budget Hearings scheduled to begin on September 12, 2016.
