DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
A Notice of Vacancy was posted on May 15, 2026, after receiving a resignation by a Commission member for the Agricultural Processing Industry position.
The Agricultural Commission is comprised of seven members, not officials of the county, appointed by the Board of Supervisors, representing the following industries: Forestry/Related (1), Livestock (2), Fruit and Nut Farming (2), Agricultural Processing (1), and Other Agricultural Interests (1).
In accordance with Agricultural Commission Bylaws adopted by the Board of Supervisors on May 13, 2026, the Agricultural Commission member for Agricultural Processing Industry resigned effective August 2026. Notice of Terms of Office Expirations were submitted to the local newspapers and to county agricultural organizations. In addition, an independent Review Panel comprised of industry representatives as identified in the Agricultural Commission By-Laws ยง 4(a), met on June 1, 2026, to interview candidates.
Applications were required to be submitted by close of business May 12, 2026, to the Board of Supervisors office. As a result of the notifications, there was one application received for the position. The review panel interviewed the applicant's qualifications and voted unanimously to refer Derek Delfino to the position for Agricultural Processing Industry appointment.
