Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost
Because this position is a parallel position and a component of the department's succession plan, the entire annual cost of this position, $182,830, is included. The annual cost for the position assumes a step three placement.

Background
The Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is requesting a temporary additional 1.0 FTE allocation for Chief Assistant Agency Director in anticipation of the retirement of the incumbent. This position is responsible for the management of highly complex operations of HHSA that are critical to its success. The temporary allocation is requested to implement a successful succession plan for the complex duties and responsibilities of this critical position.

Reason for Recommendation
The temporary allocation for an additional Chief Assistant Agency Director will provide for strong succession planning and smooth transition, upon the retirement of the incumbent, for this key executive position that serves a critical role in the Agency. This position will be deleted once the incumbent retires. Failure to approve this request could result in disruption to both critical operations and Agency development.

Clerk of the Board Follow Up Actions
Board Clerk to provide Human Resources and the Health and Human Services Agency each with one (1) copy of the resolution signed by the Chair.
