DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

At the November 16, 2023 meeting, the Commission received presentations on Cronan Ranch proposals from community groups. The Coloma Lotus Advisory Committee (CLAC) solicited proposals on the use of the County property. CLAC forwarded plans from two groups representing mountain bikers and equestrians (Legistar Item #23-2063).

The commission directed staff to coordinate a meeting with Bureau of Land Management (BLM) area

manager regarding the future ownership and uses of the county parcel and solutions to the parking problem and invite CLAC representative Mr. Rangel and appoint Commissioner McIver to be in attendance at that meeting with the results to be reported back to the commission. BLM has proposed that the County consider transferring the property to BLM for continued management and use as open space in accordance with their Cronan management plan.

The commission is asked to make recommendations to move forward to the Board of Supervisors for consideration.
