There is no County share of cost or match requirement associated with the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America Bi-Annual Grant. The “Annual Budget” on page 2 of the application reflects the total operating budget of $408,851 for the Senior Day Care Center (SDC). The “Annual Program Budget” on page 5 of the application reflects the Senior Day Care Services University portion of the total SDC operating budget. If the grant is awarded, a Budget Transfer Request will be submitted to incorporate the new revenues and corresponding appropriations.
Reason for Recommendation:
The Department of Human Services (DHS) received notice of this funding opportunity from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America mid-December 2010. Development of the application was expedited to ensure submittal by the February 1, 2011 deadline. If awarded, this grant will provide funding to create a more comprehensive Senior Day Care Services University program which provides support services to adults who are functionally or cognitively impaired due to dementia related disorders and their caregivers. Services include caregiver support groups, educational sessions, memory loss screenings and visits with dementia care experts.
