Title
Human Resources Department recommending adoption of Resolution amending the Salary and Benefits Resolution for Unrepresented Employees, Section 1509, reducing retiree health coverage benefits for newly hired or re-hired employees.
Resolution 007-2010
Body
Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: No increase in net County cost. This change will result in savings over time as retiree medical contributions will not be paid for newly hired or re-employed employees.

Background: Many bargaining units have language in place that deletes retiree health contributions for newly hired or re-employed employees.

Reason for Recommendation: This language change will create uniformity in the eligibility for retiree health contributions between represented and non-represented employee groups. This amendment will not impact employees restored to their positions following a Reduction In Force, who will remain eligible for retiree health contributions upon restoration only.

Action to be taken following Board approval: The Human Resources Department will implement this amendment, notify all County departments, and the Payroll Division of the Auditor's Office.
