DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) makes funds available each fiscal year to support comprehensive emergency management at the state, tribal, and local levels to encourage the improvement of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery for all hazards. The EMPG requires a dollar-for-dollar match to ensure that counties are making a similar investment in this important function. The HSGP does not require a match.

Cal OES requires that a resolution (by title and not name) accompany the application from a public agency governing body authorizing its agents to execute for and on behalf of that public agency applications for federal grant funds. To avoid having to obtain a resolution each year, Cal OES has allowed up to three-years of grant applications to be authorized in this resolution.

The Sheriff's Office will be submitting an application for this EMPG allocation of $157,391 for the retroactive term of July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027 with a County match requirement of 100% by the grant application deadline of April 30, 2026.
