Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
Funding for the acquisition process will be provided by the United States Forest Service and the California Tahoe Conservancy. There is no Net County Cost associated with this agenda item.

Reason for Recommendation:
The Department of Transportation (DOT) is working to advance the Christmas Valley 2C Erosion Control Project (Project), which is included in DOT's Tahoe Environmental Improvement Program. The Project will provide drainage improvements to enhance water quality and soil conservation in the Lake Tahoe Basin. The Project is subject to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and on February 24, 2009, the Board of Supervisors certified the CEQA Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) for the Project.

The research and acquisition of land rights affecting portions of the subject properties are necessary to enable the construction of the Project. DOT staff is requesting authorization to proceed with the acquisition process, inclusive of the ordering of and payment for title reports and certifi...
