DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
Sheriff’s Office recommends approving the award and Budget Transfer adding the revenue and appropriations from the ABC GAP to the Sheriff’s FY 2015/16 budget to provide funding to reduce the availability of alcohol to underage persons.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Sheriff’s Office applied and was awarded a grant on October 1, 2015 in the amount of $25,000 by the ABC. The goal in submitting the grant application was to receive funding for a program to reduce the availability of alcohol to underage persons and identify minors who purchase, use or borrow false forms of identification for the purposes of obtaining alcohol or entering licensed alcohol premises through enforcement, education, and training strategies for licensed premises and Sheriff's Office staff.

The funds expended for the GAP will cover the costs for: Operation Trapdoor enforcement operations to identify fraudulent and/or fake identification cards; training classes for deputies to identify fraudulent ID cards; conducting minor decoy and shoulder tap operations; partnering with the cities of South Lake Tahoe and Placerville law enforcement to conduct safety patrol operations; partnering with the...
