DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On April 4, 2016, the Governor of California signed legislation raising the minimum wage for all industries (Senate Bill 3, amending section 1182.12 of the California Labor Code). Effective January 1, 2019, the minimum wage in California increases from $11.00 per hour to $12.00 per hour.
The affected classes include the following:
• Food Service Aide
• General Trainee - X Help
• Mental Health Driver - X Help
• Park Operations Assistant - EH
• Probation Transport Driver
• Student Intern - Extra Help
• Transportation Officer - X Help

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The fiscal impact of this salary increase is approximately $2,300 for FY 2018-19. The increase will be absorbed by the departments or adjustments to hours will be made.
