DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Sheriff’s Office is requesting the Board receive and file a presentation on Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) Systems, commonly known as Flock Cameras, in El Dorado County. The intent of the original project was to strengthen the Sheriff’s Office’s ability to identify vehicles involved in crimes, respond to kidnappings, and improve investigative capabilities throughout El Dorado County. The Sheriff’s Office is now presenting to the Board an update on this project, including capabilities of the Vigilant and Flock ALPR systems. The presentation will also cover Sheriff’s policy, training, use, and auditing of the system, as well as successful investigations.
