DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Mark Sproull of the Food Bank of El Dorado has requested a fee waiver in the amount of $100,308.53 for the fees related to the Building and Grading Permits for the construction of an Emergency Resource Center (ERC) located at 4550 Business Drive in Cameron Park on Assessor’s Parcel Number (APN) 109-480-019. The Food Bank of El Dorado is a 501(c)3 local non-profit organization.

The Food Bank is in the process of constructing an ERC adjacent to the existing building at this location. The new facility is designed to not only warehouse and distribute emergency food, but to prepare County residents for imminent climate disasters such as wildfire, excessive precipitation, mudslides, high winds and others. The facility will provide services to all County residents, including those in rural and remote areas. The ERC is a part of the County’s Hazard Mitigation Plan and will work in contract with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services to procure, store, and distribute all in-kind donations in case of disaster. During times of inactivation the ERC can be used by the community as a meeting and event space.
