DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
As part of the Good Governance Goal in the Board approved Strategic Plan, Board policies regularly undergo a review/update process. Board Policy I-5 was originally adopted in 2015. The policy has been engaged multiple times since being enacted and appears to be working well by enabling a meaningful and fair process to identify and recommend the best candidate to fill a vacant position on a board, committee, or commission. Minor changes are suggested at this time to clarify when this Policy should be utilized. The Policy was reviewed by Department Heads for any additional changes.
County Counsel provided a review and did not have any recommendations on the proposed revisions.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board may choose not to approve the changes as proposed and direct staff to take other action or no action.
