Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

Due to the specific nature of the appointment and the procedural guidelines governing alternate positions on regional advisory committees, a Notice of Vacancy was not posted by the Clerk's Office. This decision aligns with established practices for filling alternate roles when a resignation occurs mid-term and the appointing authority has a designated successor.

On August 27, 2025, the Clerk's Office received an official recommendation from the Director of the Environmental Management Department to appoint John Dickinson as the Alternate Representative for the City of South Lake Tahoe on the El Dorado Solid Waste Advisory Committee. This recommendation followed the resignation of the previous appointee, who formally vacated the position earlier this month.

John Dickinson's appointment ensures continued representation for the City of South Lake Tahoe on matters related to regional solid waste planning and policy. His background in environmental management and familiarity with local sustainability initiatives make him a strong candidate to support the committee’s mission and contribute to its ongoing work.
