DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On July 6, 2022, the Purchasing Agent signed Agreement 6584 with Atlas Tech Service in the amount of $72,000 for on-call electrical maintenance and repair services for the Sheriff’s various facilities. These services include rewiring for televisions/monitors in the jail towers, repairing and replacing security cameras, and other services that require movement of cables that are beyond the scope of Facilities' staff.
The Sheriff’s Office used a different vendor prior to this contract with Atlas Tech Service. That vendor went out of business and upon the recommendation of the previous vendor, based on expertise in the services needed, the Sheriff’s Office chose to contract with Atlas Tech Service. Originally, this contract was to only be utilized by the Sheriff’s Office, therefore, it was only necessary for smaller projects. However, this contract has since been expanded and used by Facilities for Sheriff’s Office projects that are larger scale, therefore, increases to compensation have been necessary. On March 31, 2023, Amendment I was signed by the Purchasing Agent to increase the Compensation to $81,635. Since that time, it has been determined that larger Sheriff’s Office projects are planned for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-24 involving electrical maintenance and repair. Therefore, the Sheriff's Office is requesting the overall contract be increased by $200,000 bringing the total not-to exceed amount to $281,635. Since the increase exceeds the Purchasing Agent’s signature threshold, this request is being brought to your Board for approval.
