FUNDING: N/A
Body
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
In collaboration with the Planning and Building Department (Department), Human Resources (HR) conducted a comprehensive review of the classification specifications (class spec) series for the Code Enforcement Officer I/II, Code Enforcement Supervisor, and Code Enforcement Manager. This review was initiated by the department to use updated industry terms, to allow for more flexibility in recruitment efforts to provide candidates more options to meet minimum qualifications through a combination of education and work experience in related fields, and to establish a more defined and accessible career ladder for employees.
The proposed revisions were developed through close coordination between the department and HR to improve clarity, precision, and consistency between the classifications in the series. Additionally, the revisions incorporate the County’s current formatting standards, further supporting uniformity across all classification specifications.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to approve the revised class specs and direct HR to explore other options or revisions.
