Title
Clerk of the Board of Supervisors recommending the Board approve the vehicle usage of the Toyota Prius hybrids to meetings throughout the year without incurring expenditures for all Supervisors as necessary to travel to meetings when needed.
Body
According to Board Policy D-1, Section 2.c., "Fleet Vehicle usage, by an individual supervisor must be approved in advance at a meeting of the Board of Supervisors by a majority of the members present."
The El Dorado County Environmental Management Department/Air Quality Management District, has forwarded their invitation for ALL County Departments to use El Dorado County's hybrid fleet vehicles. The vehicles are available for use by all licensed county employees who wish to use the vehicle during county business hours for county related business.

These vehicles help reduce emmisions within our County and were purchased through a grant and are available at no cost to the County nor the tax payers.  All one needs to do is fuel the vehicle before returning it to Air Quality Management. It's easy to drive! Not to mention, due to new legislation, the Prius is able to be driven in carpool lanes by a single occupant!

At this time Supervisor Nutting and Supervisor Santiago have identified the need to use the Air Quality Management Board's Toyota Prius hybrids to travel to meetings when needed.  As there is no charge for using this vehicle due to the fact that it was purchased with State grant funds to reduce emissions, no expenditures will be incurred.  Each Supervisor pays for their gasoline and returns the vehicle clean and ready to go for the next person. The hybrid vehicles are based in Placerville and South Lake Tahoe.  The AQMD also encourages the other Supervisors to use these vehicles when possible as it reduces emissions within our County.

Once this is approved any Supervisor can reserve the vehicles through the meeting schedule system in Lotus Notes.
