DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Historically, the County of El Dorado (County) has provided funding for the City of Placerville (City) Aquatic Center, located at 301 Benham Street, Placerville. County contributions to the City Aquatic Center total $824,055 since 2002.

On December 10, 2002, the Board approved community enhancement funding to the City of Placerville in the amount of $210,000 for pool rehabilitation. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2005-06 the County, using Proposition 40 funding, made an investment of $300,000 in the infrastructure and renovation of the Aquatic Center (Resolution #097-2005). In FY 2013-14, the County and City entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU #537-M1311) in the amount of $20,000 to be used to extend aquatic center hours from August 12, 2013 through September 2, 2013 (Legistar file 13-0438). In FY 2014-15, the Board took action to approve funding of $20,000 to the City for maintenance of the Aquatic Center (Legistar file 13-0438).

It was determined by the Board that further requests for funding of the Aquatic Center needed a comprehensive analysis. Parks staff worked with the Parks and Recreation Commission and an ad hoc group appointed in 2015 to work with the community and return to the Board with recommendations.
