Title
Sheriff's Office recommending the Board approve and authorize the Chair to sign revenue generating Agreement for Supplemental Law Enforcement Services with Temple Bat Yam effective upon execution through June 30, 2025 with an amount not to exceed $20,000.
FUNDING: Revenue generating agreement.
Body
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Recently Governor Newsom authorized the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) to provide funding to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office for Law Enforcement (LE) Services for religious services at Temple Bat Yam, due to the increasing antisemitic environment which has posed an increased threat to the Temple. That funding from Cal OES ended on May 24, 2024. However, Temple Bat Yam has requested the continuation of LE Services for various religious events and will cover the costs for these services.
The presence of law enforcement is to promote public safety, enhance community support, and deter any illegal activity all while protecting those in attendance. Therefore, we are requesting this action by the Board to formalize the terms of these services.
Temple Bat Yam will be charged the actual costs of the LE Services at a rate not to exceed $95.50 per hour per Deputy Sheriff, a rate not to exceed $118.84 per hour per Sergeant, and a 12% administrative fee for services for the duration of Fiscal Year 2024-25.
