2) Approve returning Christopher Perry, current Interim Director of Planning and Building, to his prior position of Assistant Director of Planning and Building effective January 1, 2022.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
An open, competitive recruitment was held to fill the vacant position of Director of Planning and Building, yielding Karen Garner as the top candidate.
The recommendation is that Karen Garner be appointed to Step 3 of the salary range, as Director of Planning and Building, along with benefits and other compensation per Section 5 of the Salary and Benefits Resolution for Unrepresented Employees.
Should the Board appoint Ms. Garner to Director, the Interim Director appointment of Christopher Perry will no longer be needed. Mr. Perry will return to his prior position of Assistant Director of Planning and Building effective January 1, 2022.
ALTERNATIVES
If not approved, the Board will be required to consider other candidates or conduct another recruitment for the position of Director of Planning and Building.
