Background
In January 2013, Identix Inc., merged into its parent company, MorphoTrust USA, Inc.  Prior to this, El Dorado County's Sheriff's Office has had an annual contract with Indentix Inc for several years for maintenance of its Livescan equipment.  The State of California provided the original equipment and contract with Identix to provide maintenance to local jurisdictions.  Vehicle registration fees are the funding source of the Livescan Special Revenue Fund, and the fund is overseen by the Cal ID Remote Access Network (RAN) Board.  Sufficient funding is available in the Livescan Special Revenue Fund to cover these costs in Fiscal year 2013/14.

Reason for Recommendation
Approval of this recommendation will ensure that the Livescan equipment operated throughout El Dorado County is maintained and operable.

Action(s) to be taken following Board approval
Two originals to be signed by the Chair, and one returned to the Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's Office staff will work with Procurements and Contracts to set up the encumbrance in Fiscal Year 2013/14.
