DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Library Department currently has a grant from the State Library for "Early Learning in the Neighborhood", and this funding opportunity through the El Dorado County Office of Education is the supplemental funding for this project. Both grants are focused on providing outreach and recruitment of Friend, Family, and Neighbor Caregivers in order to provide education, resources, mentoring, and support of the many caregivers that provide informal care in their homes.
This is the eighth year that First 5 El Dorado and/or the El Dorado County Office of Education has funded Early Childhood Literacy Specialists to visit Family Child Care Sites with the specific goal of coaching and mentoring.
