DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Probation Department (Probation) is requesting to add six workstations to the FY 2024-25 Fixed Asset List in the amount of $9,745 using savings from other Fixed Asset line items.
Probation has overrun current available workstation space in our Shingle Springs Field Office, with multiple shared workstations. Instead of acquiring additional lease space, Probation began conversations with Facilities about maximizing space/storage options and reconfiguration in January 2024. A space planner was hired by facilities, and they provided a quote for a total of $150,000 with $20,000 for the Fiscal/HR Unit (Fiscal) reconfiguration not inclusive of any new furniture.
Probation was able to find six gently used workstations that include ergonomic sit stand desks for Fiscal that will allow for the reconfiguration due to the smaller size of the furniture at a greatly reduced price of $9,745. The workstation furniture along with pickup, delivery, and installation will be provided by Mother Lode Van & Storage (Mother Lode). The services provided by Mother Lode will include: pre-installation consultation; moving all packed boxes; placing all packed items back into workstations; moving/packing supplies; dismantling of six workstations, 12 monitor stands, six sit-stands, and six supply cabinets at their current location in Sacramento; delivery; and installing monitors onto stands. Existing Fiscal workstations, which will also be dismantled and stored by Mother Lode, will be used by Probation for future reconfiguration of other office space recommended by the space planner.
