DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On October 26, 2016, the Purchasing Agent signed Agreement for Services # 177-S1710 for police dog training for the Sheriff’s and District Attorney’s Offices in the amount of $60,000 for a three-year term that ends on October 2, 2019.
There are approximately 3 canine teams in the Sheriff’s Office, and 1 in the DA’s Office that participate in a monthly maintenance training program with John Riboni to keep the dogs and their trainers motivated and trained for peak performance.
Recently, with the addition of a new canine team, expenditures for specialized training, in conjunction with the normal monthly maintenance training costs has caused the contract compensation balance to decrease to less than what is needed to pay for services until the end of the term of the contract on October 2, 2019. Since Board approval is needed for amounts exceeding the Purchasing Agent’s authority, this request is to approve and sign this Amendment I to increase the compensation to a not-to-exceed total of $75,000, and update the information for Article XII Notice to Parties, and Article XXll Administrator.
