Sheriff’s Office recommending the Board approve and authorize the Chair to sign the revenue generating El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Agreement for Supplemental Law Enforcement Services with El Dorado County Union High School District from date of execution through June 30, 2021.
FUNDING: Revenue generating agreement.
Body
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
El Dorado Union High School District (EDHUSD) has requested the Sheriff’s office to provide a law enforcement presence at various school functions including school dances, sporting events, and other various activities that attract a large number of people. The presence of law enforcement is to promote public safety, enhance community support, and deter any illegal activity all while protecting those in attendance.
EDHUSD will be charged $81.55 per staff hour and a 12% administrative fee. Given the current issues from COVID it is unclear what the overall revenue will be from this agreement. The Sheriff’s Office and EDHUSD have agreed that this agreement shall stay in effect through June 30, 2021 at which point another agreement shall be brought before the Board if it is deemed necessary and mutually beneficial to both parties.
ALTERNATIVES
If this agreement is not approved the Sheriff’s Office will not be able to provide staff dedicated to school functions throughout EDHUSD.
