1. Receive a presentation from Grant Consultant Kevin O'Connell on the Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program (JMHCP) and Behavioral Health and Justice Invention Services (BHJIS);
2. Approve the Chair to submit the required survey and application for El Dorado County to become a Nationally Recognized Stepping Up Innovator County.

JUSTICE AND MENTAL HEALTH COLLABORATION PROGRAM (JMHCP):
The County was awarded a federal grant September 25, 2018, Collaborative County Approaches to Reducing the Prevalence of Individuals with Mental Disorders in Jail through Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) project number 2018-MO-BX-0017. The goal of the grant continues to be a system wide coordinated approach to reduce the prevalence of low risk individuals with MI and CMISA in local jails. The grant period was January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020, however, in 2020 and 2021, we applied and were granted a project period extension of the grant, extending our grant through December 31, 2022.
With the continued efforts and accomplishments of El Dorado County's Stepping Up Initiative, El Dorado County has reach a milestone to be evaluated as a Stepping Up Innovator County. The premise behind the Innovator status is counties can demonstrate that they have accurate, accessible data on the prevalence serious mental illness at their county jail.
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH JUSTICE INTERVENTION SERVICES (BHJIS):
The County was awarded a state grant, February 28, 2022 for the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) BHJIS project, funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA). The grant period is February 15, 2022 through February 14, 2023.
