Public Health Department recommending approval, in concept, a letter of support and collaboration to El Dorado Hills Community Visions, Inc. to assist them with their reapplication for SAMHSA's (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) and the Office of National Drug Control Policy's Drug Free Communities Support Program Grant; said Department to provide support through collaboration, technical assistance in tobacco control, youth development, and asset building for the El Dorado Hills Teen Center.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve.

Background: As a member of the Vision Coalition of El Dorado Hills, the Public Health Department has played an active role in developing community/school based alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention strategies in El Dorado Hills. The Department has partnered with the Vision Coalition for nearly four years by sending representatives to attend strategic planning meetings, which have served to assess community assets, resources, and gaps in services. Public Health also has assisted in building this coalition and organizing agency networks in the El Dorado Hills community.
Reason for Recommendation: The Department supports the efforts of the Vision Coalition, particularly the development of a teen center and youth council, and it strongly desires to assist in working toward this endeavor through its partnership with the El Dorado Hills community.
Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None.
