Title

Supervisor Ranalli recommending the Board authorize the Chair to sign a letter in support of the Cleveland-Ice House Forest Health Project, a proposal to improve forest health, fire resiliency, and wildlife habitat using a combination of mechanical treatments (thinning, chipping, and masticating brush and smaller trees); hand treatments to include brush cutting, hand thinning, pruning, and prescribed understory burning; and road maintenance activities within the Cleveland-Ice House Plantations on the Pacific District of the Eldorado National Forest.

Body

The Cleveland-Ice House Forest Health Project is located on the Pacific Ranger District within the South Fork American River Cohesive Strategy Area.  This scope of this project includes areas designated under the 2014 Farm Bill to address insect and disease threats that impact forest health, and increase the risk of wildland fire.

The Project would reduce stand density, competing vegetation, and fuels on an estimated 3,000 acres of national forest system land within the South Fork of the American River drainage.
