Probation Department recommending the Board recognize Deputy Chief Probation Officer, Vince Janette on the occasion of his retirement from the El Dorado Probation Department and approve the Board Chair to sign a Proclamation recognizing Vince’s service and dedication to the people of El Dorado County through his unwavering commitment to the staff and youth of our Juvenile Detention Centers and the entire department.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Deputy Chief Probation Officer, Vince Janette began his career with the El Dorado County Probation Department in April 2006 as the Division Chief in charge of services for the El Dorado County Juvenile Hall. Six years subsequent to his appointment, Deputy Chief Janette was provided the opportunity manage both the Placerville Juvenile Hall and the newly constructed South Lake Tahoe Juvenile Treatment Center. Together, both 40-bed facilities account for almost one third of the department staff contingent and require management attention 24 hours/day, 365 days per year. The facilities are responsible for providing rehabilitative and custodial services to at-risk youth residing in El Dorado and surrounding counties. Deputy Chief Janette is charged with ensuring the highest standards of safety, security and treatment are provided for our youth.

In his capacity, Deputy Chief Janette has served the people with distinction and provided his talent, heart, mind and spirit to the at-risk youth detained in his two facilities.
