Background
On June 19, 2014 the El Dorado County Grand Jury released its Final Report for the year 2013-2014. Included in the report is Case Number GJ-13-20, entitled "The El Dorado County Charter: A Prescription for Dysfunction." Under Penal Code 933.05 the governing body is required to respond to the Report within 90 days. For each "Finding" in the report the County must indicate specific responses of agreement or disagreement. As to each "Recommendation," the County must respond as to whether the recommendation has been implemented, has not yet been implemented, will not be implemented, or requires furhter analysis.
At the August 5, 2014 Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board approved a motion to review, discuss, and respond to the Report at the next scheduled meeting of August 12, 2014. Pursuant to Board Policy A-11, the Chief Administrative Office is responsible for coordinating the County's response and will bring a draft of the Board's response back for approval
Reason for Recommendation
At the August 5, 2014 Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board approved a motion to review, discuss, and respond to Grand Jury report GJ-13-20 entitled "The El Dorado County Charter: A Prescription for Dysfunction." The motion designated August 12, 2014 as the date for a public hearing. A final response must be prepared and approved by September 16, 2014.
