DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On December 12, 2023, with Legistar item 23-1756, the Board approved the District Attorney’s acceptance of the CDI WC Fraud Program in the amount of $506,895 for grant period July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024, and the CDI Auto Fraud Program in the amount of $187,683 for grant period July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024. The Board also authorized the District Attorney to accept any subsequent grant amendments for both awards. These Programs support continued efforts in the investigation and prosecution of workers' compensation insurance fraud and automobile insurance fraud.

On March 4, 2024, the District Attorney’s Office received notification of additional grant funding for both Programs, of which $22,195 was allocated to El Dorado County for the WC Fraud Program and $14,267 was allocated for the Auto Fraud Program. The additional award for both Programs will cover anticipated salary and benefit expenses pertaining to any potential Extra-Help positions dedicated to the Programs. The enclosed budget transfer reconciles the additional award within the department's FY 2023-24 budget.

ALTERNATIVES
Should the Board decline approval of the Budget Transfer, the District Attorney's budget will not accurately reflect the WC Fraud and Auto Fraud Program incoming grant funds for FY 2023-24.
