None. The 25% County match of $28,749 will be met with SMUD Cooperation Agreement special revenue funds which have been budgeted in the Sheriff’s FY 2014/15 budget.
Background
Since 2009, the Sheriff's Office has been applying annually for the grant funding to offset the costs to patrol the Rubicon Trail. The grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation provides 75% of the operating costs, and the County is responsible for a 25% match.
Reason for Recommendation
On August 25, 2014 the Sheriff's Office received notification of the grant award from the California Department of Parks and Recreation in the amount of $86,248. Law enforcement salary and benefits, as well as general operating expenses for law enforcement on the Rubicon Trail are eligible project costs under this grant. The 25% County Match is funded through the use of SMUD Cooperation Agreement special revenue funds. These funds offset salary, benefits, overtime and operational costs for providing patrol services on the Rubicon Trail during the Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) high season months. The performance period of this grant is July 8, 2014 through July 7, 2015.
