DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION

Chief Administrative Office, Facilities Division, recommending the Board consider authorizing the Department to enter into negotiations with the City of South Lake Tahoe regarding the potential sale or transfer of a portion of parcel number 026.050.05, commonly referred to as the “City of South Lake Tahoe Campground by the Lake;” and appoint the Chief Administrative Officer or designee as the real estate negotiator on behalf of the County.

 

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The County owns approximately 40.8 acres of the 56 acre park within the South Lake Tahoe city limits, referred to as the “City of South Lake Tahoe Campground by the Lake”, and currently has leased this land to the City until July 1, 2023.  The County was recently contacted by the City with the request to acquire a portion of this land.  The portion is approximately 9.59 acres of APN 026.050.05 and contains multiple buildings, including the Senior Center, Tahoe South Visitor Center, Tahoe Arts League Arts Center and Museum, Osgood Toll House Building and the Log Cabin. Addresses include 3050 to 3066 Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

The County may disregard the inquiry from the City, extend the City's lease, or propose an alternative.
