Title

Parks, a division of the Chief Administrative Office, recommends the Commission discuss developing a permit process for closing parks and trails facilities to allow special events.

Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

On July 22, 2025, the Board of Supervisors provided direction to staff to develop a permit process that allows for case-by-case determination, with input from the Parks and Recreation Commission on closing parks and trails facilities, or portions thereof, and frequency of closing to allow for private special events and filming. The purpose of this discussion is to give the Parks Commission an opportunity to provide input as we are developing the process on how and in what forum they would like to be able to provide input in the determination on whether or not it is appropriate to close a County Parks Facility for a special event that is not open to the public.
