DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Throughout the nation, October is recognized as Cybersecurity Awareness Month. In recognition of this 20th year of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the Information Technologies Department has brought forth a proclamation to the Board allowing an opportunity for the Board as well as members of the public to acknowledge the importance of the Information Security Office and cybersecurity practices for the County.
Cybersecurity is a vital component of the County's infrastructure, protecting those who use and interact with County resources by protecting data from cybersecurity threats. Cybersecurity education and awareness are crucial for everyone who connects to the internet with any device, to aid in the protection against phishing, viruses, ransomware, malware, or the loss of sensitive or financial data.
