Background
In an April 25, 2013 Federal Register notice the United States Fish and Wildlife Service proposed to list the Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog, and the northern distinct population segment of the mountain yellow-legged frog as endangered species, and list the Yosemite toad as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. The Fish and Wildlife Service also proposes to designate nearly two million acres of the Sierra Nevada including parts of El Dorado County as critical habitat. The Board has previously requested a field hearing from the Fish and Wildlife Service and submitted a comment letter on the species listing and habitat designation.
On January 9, 2014 Fish and Wildlife published the Draft Economic Analyis of Critical Habitat Designation For Three Sierra Nevada Amphibians, and opened a 60 day comment period.
Reason for Recommendation
The comment period on the Draft Economic Analysis closes on March 11, 2014.
