Title
Department of Transportation requests the Committee to provide a support letter for the Diamond Springs Pedestrian Facility Improvements Project that was presented to the Committee on April 16, 2026, Legistar number 26-0293.
Body
The purpose of the Diamond Springs Pedestrian Facility Improvements Project (Project) is to provide continuous bicycle and pedestrian facilities, including sidewalk infill and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant curb ramps, along key corridors in the community of Diamond Springs. Transportation has conducted many public meetings and has received a lot of support for this Project. The planning, design, and right of way phases are currently funded, and Transportation is actively looking for construction funds. The Active Transportation Program (ATP) encourages increased use of active modes of transportation, such as biking, walking, and rolling. A couple of the ATP goals are to increase the proportion of trips accomplished by biking and walking and increase safety and mobility for non motorized users. The ATP funds are a perfect fit for this Project.
