Community Development Services (CDS), Department of Transportation, recommending the Board select one or more of the US 50/Cameron Park Drive Interchange alternatives to carry forward to preliminary design and environmental studies, as funding becomes available.
DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND
In 2017, the Long Range Planning Division began the US 50/Cameron Park Drive Interchange Alternatives Analysis project with Dokken Engineering and DKS Associates. The project goals include identifying an interchange alternative that would accommodate future traffic growth, while reducing the project cost and impacts to private property. Background information regarding this project is included in Attachment A - Board Memo.
The Cameron Park Drive Interchange Alternatives Analysis project team has identified four alternatives for consideration:
· Alternative 1: Widening (Attachment C)
· Alternative 2: Rodeo Road Off-Ramp (Attachment D)
· Alternative 3: Hook Ramps (Attachment E)
· Alternative 4: Diverging Diamond (Attachment F)
Each of the alternatives is described in Attachment A, along with a summary of the benefits and drawbacks of each. The Alternatives Screening Matrix (Attachment B) summarizes the evaluation of the alternatives. Traffic simulation videos of each alternative can be viewed on the project website:
