DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
Human Resources recommending the Board approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent to sign Amendment II to Agreement No. 498-S1511 with Meyers, Nave, Riback, Silver & Wilson to provide professional legal services on an "as requested" basis for the purpose of providing legal advice to the Civil Service Commission for the Human Resources Department, extending the term of the Agreement by two years through April 30, 2018, and increasing the total not to exceed amount by $200,000 for a new total not to exceed amount of $300,000 based on the department’s estimated cost of services for the contract period.

The Board is also being asked to make findings that it is more feasible and economical to engage an outside Attorney for the provision of providing professional legal services on an "as requested" basis for the purpose of providing legal advice to the Civil Service Commission, in accordance with Ordinance 3.13.040.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Historically, the Board has engaged outside counsel to assist the Civil Service Commission in order to ensure impartiality.
