Title

Human Resources Department recommending the Board approve and adopt the revised Health and Human Services Agency department-specific class specification: Public Health Officer.

FUNDING: N/A

Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

Human Resources conducted a comprehensive review of the Public Health Officer classification at the request of the Health and Human Services Agency.  The class specification is being updated to reflect the current requirements of the classification, as specified by the California Department of Public Health, and to maintain alignment with industry standards and comparator agencies. Updates include refined duty statements to reflect supervisory changes and revised minimum qualifications to reflect the California Department of Public Health requirements.  These revisions do not alter the overall scope of work but provide clearer, more accurate descriptions of the responsibilities assigned to the position.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board could choose not to approve and adopt the updated class specifications and/or request that additional revisions be made.
