Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None. This funding will provide both revenue and offsetting expenditures in the Sheriff's FY 2009-10 budget.
Reason for Recommendation: The County of El Dorado is a participating agency in the Northern Region, Southern Initiative Multi-Jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team (Cal- MMET) grant program which is administered by Yolo County. The Department recently received notification that one participating agency would be unable to expend their allocated funding by June 30, 2010. As a result, the funds have been offered to other participating agencies as long as the funds can be expended by June 30,2010.
As a result of this additional funding, the Sheriff's Department has indentifed a need to purchase a 4X4 vehicle for their South Lake Tahoe El Dorado Narcotic Enforcement Team (SLEDNET) task force. The Department has worked with Purchasing and a vehicle has been identifed at a local dealer. Purchase is pending Board approval to accpet the funds.
Action to be taken following Board approval: Auditor Controller's office will process the budget transfer. Sheriff's office will work with Purchasing to acquire the vehicle
