Background: A key responsibility of the Public Health Department is to monitor the health of the community. To that end, the Public Health Department publishes the El Dorado County Health Status Report every other year. The report is a compilation of vital health information on the people of El Dorado County gleaned from the most recent and representative health databases available. The current report provides a window into the major health issues that confront this county in 2008, showing how rates of key diseases and other conditions have changed in the population over time, and how such health outcomes here compare with neighboring counties and with California as a whole. Factors associated with health, including behavioral, social and economic factors, are also examined. The Health Officer will review the key findings of the report for the Board.
Action to be taken following Board approval: Receive and file.
