DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:
On January 8, 2019 (Item 24), the Board Approved the Introduction (First Reading) of Ordinance 5098 and Continued Ordinance 5098 to January 15, 2019 for Final Passage (Second Reading).
Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) recommending the Board approve Introduction (First Reading) of a new Ordinance 4188, repealing and replacing El Dorado County Ordinance 4188, Article VIII - “Veterans Affairs Commission” Sections 2.20 2.20.510 - 2.20.570 thereby repealing and replacing Ordinance 4188 (1991). If the Board approves the Introduction (First Reading) of Ordinance 4188, Sections 2.20.510 - 2.20.570, the Final Passage (Second Reading) will be scheduled for January 15, 2019.
Upon approval of the Second Reading, the new Ordinance would become effective after thirty (30) calendar days.
At their meeting of Thursday, December 13, 2018, the Veterans Affairs Commission adopted draft revisions to their Bylaws. In addition to minor typographical and grammatical corrections, the primary revisions seek to remove references to a U.S. National Guard unit represented in the County. The U.S. National Guard unit (270th Military Police Company, Placerville Detachment) relocated its facility from El Dorado County to Madera, California in November 2014 and therefore it is no longer necessary to include the National Guard commanding officer as a non-voting member on the commission (Code Section 2.20.530(C)).
