Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: Departments have already budgeted for these low-cost exams/tests assuming the Public Health Department would coordinate them with medical providers.
Reason for Recommendation: Occu-Med currently provides occupational health services, specifically in the areas of pre-employment (post-offer) physical evaluations and fitness-for-duty examinations. Because the County Public Health Department no longer coordinates annual DOT Exams and Certifications, and annual Cholinesterase RBC/Serum tests for several job classes primarily in the County Environmental Management Department, Occu-Med has agreed to assume responsibility for contracting with medical providers and arranging exams/tests for employees.
Action to be taken following Board approval: The Board Chairman will sign the amendment, and our business relationship with Occu-Med will continue with the addition of several employee medical exams/tests.
